Sharing Stories on Contested Histories Training – Call for Applications

This year’s training will take place online, from 13 – 25 November 2022. Deadline for applications is 8 June 2022.
By Sarah Cremin, Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands

How do contemporary museums deal with the presence of multiple and sometimes opposing views on their collections? How do they allow communities to share their stories with audiences who may have radically different readings of the same historical events? How can they respond to political and cultural concerns to mobilise social change? These shared challenges are at the core of the fourth edition of the international training programme Sharing Stories on Contested Histories. This intensive, two-week training brings together 24 upcoming heritage professionals and academics who share a concern for how heritage institutions can ethically and empathetically engage with international cultural heritage topics that may be considered ‘contested’.

Applications are currently being accepted for this training programme. Deadline for applications is 8 June 2022. The training is organised by the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (RCE) in close collaboration with the Reinwardt Academy , within the framework of the International Heritage Cooperation programme. This year’s training will take place online, from 13 – 25 November 2022.
