The highly symbolic visit in October of a Dutch Parliamentary delegation to the historic areas of Cape York visited by Janszoon in the Duyfken in 1606. Led by the President of Dutch upper house, Mrs Timmerman-Buck, the delegation met with Senior Elders, were “welcomed to country” and re-opened the refurbished Western Cape Cultural Centre at a ceremony attended by the traditional owners.

OBJECTIVES
A part of the celbrations in 2006 which marked 400 years since the landing of the Duyfken and to have received the visit by the Parliamentary delegation led by Mrs Timmerman-Buck, President of the Dutch Senate. The significance of the "first contact" was demonstrated during that visit by Traditional Owners from Western Cape York.
