From 11 to 15 April the president of the Brazilian National Institute of Historic and Artistic Heritage (IPHAN) is visiting the Netherlands.
Date(s)
Monday 11 - Friday 15 April 2016

The president of IPHAN, Ms. Jurema de Sousa Machado, will be joined by two technical colleagues, Ms. Érica Cristina Castilho Diogo and Ms. Sandra Rafaela Magalhães Corrêa, respectively coordinator-general and coordinator at the Department of Material Heritage and Inspection.

Goal of the visit is strengthening ties and furthering cooperation between IPHAN and several Dutch heritage institutions, most specifically the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands (RCE), and deepening knowledge of topics such as adaptive reuse of historic buildings and financial models for heritage preservation and management projects.

Among different meetings, the programme will include a public expert meeting, the Brazil Heritage Update on 14 April. Ms. De Sousa Machado will give a keynote on the work of IPHAN, the strong cooperation between Brazil and the Netherlands, and recent challenges met in Brazil with the preservation and reuse of historic buildings in its ever-developing megacities.
