The Atlantic World and the Dutch (AWAD) deals with the cultural heritage from centuries of contact between the Dutch and the inhabitants of the Atlantic region
The Atlantic World and the Dutch 1500-2000 (AWAD) was a shared heritage project with the objective to promote the preservation, accessibility and the study of the material and immaterial cultural heritage arising from centuries of contact between the Dutch and the inhabitants of the Atlantic region. AWAD started in 2004 and stopped as a programme in November 2011 due to the dismantling of the Netherlands Institute for Heritage (Erfgoed Nederland). In 2014 all relevant AWAD data was integrated into DutchCulture.nl to secure a sustainable future for the information gathered during the project.
