De Ziel van Zout (Soul of Salt) by Dutch artist Patricia Kaersenhout during Manifesta 12. The installation symbolizes the sea salt of the Atlantic Ocean that transported Africans to Caribbean plantations to work as slaves. The artwork gained significance by placing it in the Palazzo Forcella De Seta in Palermo, a city were history and the topical matter of immigration meet.
