DutchCulture Mobility Info Point presents: United States visa, a workshop with Matthew Covey

Matthew Covey from Tamizdat and Covey Law will give a workshop on the do’s and don’ts of applying for a visa for artistic purposes to the United States.
Date(s)
Thursday 17 October 2019 10:30

Traveling to the United States on the wrong type of visa for the purposes of touring, making art or (co)producing may result in being stopped at the border, sent back home or even being restricted from entry to the U.S. for long periods of time. To help you make sense of the various types of visa available for the artistic sector and the official visa application procedures, Matthew Covey will give an informative and interactive workshop on how to successfully gain entry to the U.S. for your international cultural practice.

Who is Matthew Covey?

Having worked as an artist, booking agent, manager and immigration lawyer, Covey has acquired a broad understanding of the artistic sector and entertainment industries. He is the founding director of Tamizdat, a non-profit organisation which promotes international cultural exchange and offers 24/7 pro-bono legal assistance for artists traveling to the U.S. As a much sought after speaker, Matthew Covey will be in the Netherlands to give a talk the Amsterdam Dance Event Pro conference on new visa realities in the United States.

What is the DutchCulture Mobility Info Point?

The DutchCulture Mobility Info Point provides information and advice on issues inherent to working internationally as an artist such as mobility funding, social security, taxation, visa, residence and work permits. Both DutchCulture and Tamizdat are part of On The Move, network for the encouragement and advancement of international cultural mobility.
