long description

In Colombo, Dutch records are also being kept at the Wolvendaal Church. Finished in 1757, this Dutch Reformed Church still serves the purpose for which it was intended by its founders under the leadership of Reverend Stanley Nelson, President of the Wolvendaal Foundation.

The Wolvendaal Church houses ca. 6 metres church archives, like marriage and baptism registers, from the period 1620-1936. Many of these documents have become brittle. Around 25% is badly damaged while 55% is in a deteriorated state. With financial support of the Royal Netherlands Embassy, these records are being conserved.
