Dutch Fortress Vengurla

OBJECTIVES
Our main goal is to draw the international attention to
the remaining heritage in the village Vengurla in India.
Aside from the old fortress there are also canons and old warehouses to
be found and the urban context is still
quite the same. Next to that we want the fortress to
be conserved by the local authorities, so that a new
function to the building can be implemented one day.

RESULTS
The conservation of the building is our first aim, which
we are trying to achieve by introducing the project to
both (Dutch) tourists and the local authorities. The local
authorities are very attracted by this matter what has
resulted in several newspaper articles and discussions.
They also started with preserving the site by cleaning
up the vegetation around it.
