long description
In ‘Orpheus en Sinta’ two famous stories are cited to portray a turbulent period around WO2. Orpheus and Rama are both heroes who want to have their wives back (either from
the dead or after a kidnapping) exactly as they were; the inability of the heroes to change makes a reunion impossible. Indies Dutch were constantly forced to view Indonesia and the Netherlands differently. Also, their role changed again and again in the eyes of varying rulers. Decolonization, the war between the Netherlands and Indonesia, the ‘repatriation’ to their fatherland. Looking back, resignation, and… then what?
