Barbara Honrath, Member - Director Goethe Institut Netherlands
I am delighted to be a member of the Supervisory Board of DutchCulture, because I believe that international cultural cooperation builds trust between the people of different countries by leading to a better understanding of the challenges and values that we all share.
I have been the Director of the Goethe-Institut France since July 2015. I studied Art History, English and French Language and Literature at the universities of Bonn and Manchester and earned my Ph.D. with a study of The New York Poets and Visual Arts. From 1988 to 1991, I was lecturer in German at the University of Oxford. I subsequently took part in a training programme at the Goethe-Institut, where I was offered a permanent job in 1993. Prior to my position in France I was, among others, Head of Arts at the London Goethe-Institut, Head of the Visual Arts Department at the Goethe-Institut’s Head Office in Munich, and Director of the Goethe-Institut Netherlands.
